Dec 6 2008 Yuba City Calif NCRBA *Rabbit Show*
It was a nice little show held by Northern Calif Rabbit Breeders Assoc.
It was good to see a lot of friends we haven't seen for a while and to meet new ones.
Vendors like Barbi Brown, KW Cages, and gift sellers helped us fill in time while waiting for our breeds to be called.
There was a silent auction fund raiser for the local 4H club, a raffle for the NCRBA, food service provided by local 4H club.
There was also Angora specialty, Flemish Giant specialty, Californian Specialty.
I saw Creme d'Argentes for the first time in many, many months! Moria put 5 on the table. She bought them from a breeder in Colorado. I served as clerk for Randy Shumaker while he judged the Cremess.
Clerking is a good way to get close to rabbit breed judging and you get to see what thejudge is looking at.
And when you clerk for a rare breed, it does not take very long to do it.
She also had a Brown Beveren, not a recognized color, but it is always fun to see variations on a breed. There were Blue, Black, and White Beverens.
I saw some Black and Brown Silvers on the table, which are also making a comeback lately.
One good looking American Chinchilla was on the table.
Red and White Satin Angoras represented the rare breed Angora rabbits.
Lilacs were showing good numbers too.
For cavies, there were 60 in open, 45 in youth. A nice representation of many breeds and varieties.
It was a good day! Franco Rios
