With rains in Central Calif now reaching the 10th day of recordable precipitation, the Sacramento River is rising and now we're looking at the possibility of flooding.

I'm in a fairly safe area, but some people in town are already sandbagging because they remember what happens around here when it rains too much.

Also many homes were built in the old flood plain. Don't ask who approved that stupid idea.

So, what do you do to prepare for possible flooding?

A good bug out bag...along with doing your best to move as many of your possessions that you cannot take with you into the uppers floors or attic.

Floods are one of those natural disasters for which the only option is to get the heck out of there....leave sooner, rather than later.

Sandbags help to protect possessions and maybe keep your house where you left it....however, people need to remember that possessions can be replaced.... lives cannot.
