I've gotten myself one of those pesky colds that doesn't want to drain down your nose, it wants to drain down your throat. It irrates the stew out of me! Does anyone have some suggestions as to what I can do about 1. The sore throat and 2. Something to get rid of the cold?

There are new cold remedies over the counter that are supposed to help a lot. You swab the inside of your nose with it and it's supposed to kick it a lot faster and reduce symptoms. Ask at your pharmacy.

For the throat, honey is good. Try hot tea with honey in it, and if you can't sleep, add a little whiskey.

If you develop a cough, sip cold water. It helps to relax the cough reflex.

Enchinachea to boost the immune system.
Honey and/or mint (I use peppermint) for the cough and sore throat.
Eucalyptus oil (a tiny dab on the tip of your nose) to dry out the sinuses.

Or, I go to Daddy's (my FIL) house, and he fixes me a Hot Toddy, made with Honey, Tea, Lemon Juice and a VERY hearty dose of brandy.

Since I have been drinking Daddy's hot toddies, I haven't had a single cold that I could remember clearly.
