Well, it has stopped raining here (for now) and has dried up a bit, perfect for tilling.

I found this tiller in one of our storage sheds, my dad had forgotten all about it. We bought it about 17 years ago from my uncle, used it, then sold it to a friend of ours who moved and gave it back to us about 15 years ago. When we got it back it didnt run, but thanks to my parents being pack rats and just stuffing it in the shed it gave me something to do. A set of points and flywheel key later, and three good pulls of the starter it fired right up after sitting for 15 years. Gotta Love Techumseh Engines. All was going well until one of the clips holding the pins that holds the tines on broke and fell out, now I can't find it so I have to go into town and get some bolts.

It is 12 degrees here this morning, ground is still frozen. About another month before I even start tilling!
No green grass at all here yet, just dead brown stuff. But your pictures sure are an uplifting sight. Thank you for the inspiration Bugeye.

Tell me, how do you keep the grass from growing back? Do you use a herbicide before you plant your crops, ..or do you fight the grass regrowth all year long?

Also, what kind of pickup truck is that? 1/2 ton? 3/4 ton? Is it a Silverado? What year? Diesel or gasoline? What size?

And hey, nice vintage rototiller you have there!

well this is a new spot for the garden, but the plan is to retill it after the harvest and plant a winter crop in it, the truck you see is my neighbors, its a silverado gas engine, I wish it was mine

I have seedlings in the sun room.

So far buttercup squash, honey dew melon, watermelon, cantaloupe, Pablamo peppers, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, banana peppers, cilantro, rosemary, dill, iceberg lettuce, ruby red lettuce, butter crunch lettuce, chives, swiss chard, and romaine have been moved to larger pots, waiting for it to warm up enough to go outside.

Waiting for spaghetti squash, wax beans, green beans, cherry tomatoes, carrots, radishes, mortgage lifter tomatoes, cucumbers, chives, collards, turnips, mustard greens, and serrano peppers to get strong enough to transplant....and also free up some of my seed space.

Have the strawberries in hanging baskets, they won't go outside. I am likely going to do the same with the cherry tomatoes.

Once I have space to start more seeds, the peas, celery, basil, parsley, savory, and even more peppers will go in. *grinz*

Wonderful start to the year. So far I have had 80% seed success. Whoo-hoo!

Now, I have to go figure out new fences. My goats have discovered they can jump *on top of* the ones I have, bleat at me to flaunt it, then go their merry way. I think they do it just because it gets them more grain.

Peace,
Caliann
