If your core body temperature gets to be 105 Degrees Fahrenheit and you have nervous system complications from high temperatures, you have Heat Stroke. You need to seek medical attention immediately. This is not the milder form of heat cramps or heat exhaustion.
So remember, watch for these signs if you have been our working in the heat:
Very Hot Skin and Dizziness and Fainting are the most common with an internal temperature of 105 or more.
Extreme Fatigue beyond what the normal exhaustion of working on a hot day, especially when it has other symptoms.
Nausea and Vomiting is bad with the other symptoms. Drink water and sports drinks to try and alleviate the nausea, otherwise contact a doctor. If you have started vomiting, drink as much water as possible and get medical care immediately.
Lack of Sweating and/or Rapid Heartbeat are sure signs you are having issues and an indication of a serious problem. If you are feeling very hot, but not sweating, you need to get medical assistance.
Severe Headache and Mental Confusion causing you to lose focus, or have trouble remembering is another tell tale sign of Heat Stroke. We all get headaches, but a really bad one combined with other symptoms means get help now.
Seizures are a very dangerous sign of Heat Stroke that requires immediate medical attention. This usually shows up on its own with no warning. This truly is an emergency with speed of medical help of most importance.
